The Jargon Index publishes ratings of how clearly company homepages state what they sell. Ratings are generated automatically from the public homepage text and published without human review. They are opinions about writing, produced by a fixed, published method, and are not statements about any company’s products, finances, people or lawfulness. Use them as such.
You may rate any public domain. You may not use the index to harass, to scrape beyond the published dataset, or to overload the service. The dataset is licensed CC BY 4.0.
Paid reports (currently the Rewrite pack) are sold by Paddle.com as merchant of record. Paddle takes payment, issues the receipt and handles VAT. Your contract of sale is with Paddle; the report is produced and delivered by The Jargon Index.
A report is generated automatically from your page’s public text at the time of purchase and delivered on a private web page whose link appears on screen after checkout and in your Paddle receipt. Keep the link: it is the only copy. Reports are suggestions for copy, written by a model from facts on your page; you are responsible for checking any line before publishing it.
Ratings are re-run, never hand-edited. If your page changed, rate it again. If a quoted line is not on your page, reply to any receipt or write to the address on the privacy page and the rating is re-run. Companies cannot pay to be listed, altered or removed.
The index and reports are provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, The Jargon Index is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of a rating or a report. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms are governed by the law of Denmark.
